EZ Melts® contains zinc oxide because it has 80% elemental zinc (meaning the actual amount of zinc found in the supplement). Other forms of zinc (for example: zinc picolinate and other common types) contain only 20% elemental zinc.

We do not use zinc salts, such as zinc acetate since it would be extremely unpalatable (e.g., bitter, metallic) in an orally dissolving tablet. We use zinc oxide as it is also well known for its safety, stability, and large-scale studies supporting its benefit in other disease states (i.e., Age-related Macular Degeneration [AMD]) when taken orally in dietary supplements

There are many forms of zinc. Since different forms of zinc vary in their ability and method of absorption, we always recommend speaking with your healthcare professional to determine which form and amount of zinc is best for immunity and your specific needs. In the case of zinc-l-carnosine, it is formulated to help support a healthy gastrointestinal environment and can provide a percentage of your daily zinc value. Thus, it is always important to monitor your dietary intake when supplementing with any form of zinc in order to prevent adverse health effects.

Our products are formulated to utilize the least amount of inactive excipients to ensure product quality and uniformity. Both mannitol and xylitol are used to provide a balance in tablet texture and flavor. There are less than 2 calories per gram in each product serving, which accounts for the total amount of sugar alcohols used per tablet (< 1gram).

It all depends on your circumstances. If you have been deficient in zinc then you would need more than the recommended 8-11mg to raise your levels. Likewise, you may need more than the recommended amount if you're trying to boost your immunity or fight off a cold or flu. This is the reason why many supplements have more than 100% of the daily value of a given vitamin. However, you shouldn't take more than 40mg long-term unless directed by a doctor.
